Cable Fiber Vs Phone Fiber For Internet & Tv

With telecom companies like Verizon, and At&T rolling out fiber optic networks for television and Internet service, it's understandable if one would question if the fiber networks offered by cable companies use the same technology. You may have heard ads on the radio, or Tv touting a particular cable providers fiber network, but unless they're speaking of business class services, they never use the word "optic" with fiber.

True Fiber Optic Networks

Att Call Conference

Both cable, and phone companies use true fiber-optic networks. The incompatibility comes in at what's commonly referred to as "the last mile". A cable providers network is typically fiber to the node, or Fttn, and data is then transmitted from that point to colse to homes and businesses via coaxial cable. On the other hand, some phone companies use the same method, but also offer fiber to the home, or Ftth connections. Currently, Verizon's FiOs network, and At&T's U-verse are the only networks that deliver via fiber direct your home.

Ftth Connections

This needs a bit of clarification. While U-verse, and fiOs do offer Ftth in some areas, it's first delivered to an access point, or node. From that point it's delivered to the home via coaxial cable, just like the cable providers, or a fiber cable. Hence the term Fiber to The Home, which naturally means the point where the fiber optic line is terminated. I know this is a bit confusing, but to make this point once more, an Ftth connections referrers to the "last mile" being a fiber connection versus a coaxial connection.

Fiber Optic Internet

An internet connection over a fiber-optic network is going to be much faster than the old fashioned copper, or coaxial cable, because of the fact data is being transmitted through light pulses through thin strands of glass, instead of electrical pulses over copper resulting in less loss of ability and a greater capacity to carry data. A fiber optic Internet connection is not shared in the last mile the same way cable high-speed is. It's dedicated, so regardless of if it's Ftth, or Fttn, the connection from a phone service provider in law should be more reliable than with cable.

Fiber Optic Tv

The same principals apply here as with fiber Internet. Because of the technologies involved, phone providers using fiber optic network technology now have the ability to match, or ever surpass the ability of cable television providers. If television service is the same, or isn't a factor, it may come down to bundling options for Internet, phone, and Tv, since as mentioned before, you're likely to get a great connection through a phone service provider for Internet than you would with a cable broadband connection.

Consumers - How to Escalate Your Complaint & Win

Escalation has been a term in currency within buyer service units for many years. It is the process of captivating a client's inbound call or complaint up from one level of support, or discretion, to the next.

Typically, at Level One, which is where most of us dial-in, unless we're corporate buyers who are sent to a extra cue, Csr's cannot give us anyone except excuses.

Att Call Conference

Yesterday, I attended a classical concert at Disney Hall in Los Angeles. The seats I bought online were miserable, perched way above the stage and to the right, and I got vertigo, finding down. There was no leg room, whatsoever, adding to the misery of my 6-2 frame.

With about 12 minutes to performance time, I went down to the ticket lobby and asked for a turn of seats. The First Level ticket jobber said I'd have to stay where I was or pay more for better seats.

I asked for her manager.

Reluctantly, she fetched the person, and I explained my queasiness. Declining her enticement to upgrade seats at a fee, she finally caved and gave me two seats that were far superior, and I enjoyed the show.

Level one couldn't say yes; she could only say no, and that's typical, whether you're on the phone or in their faces.

I've phoned At&T about my buggy Dsl modem and I've noticed that Level I personnel are offshore, in India, I believe; while Level Ii folks are stateside.

If you're savvy, you can cut to the chase with a Level
I by saying, "I'm going to need a new (unit) because
mine is buggy, and I've done all the tests to
determine it's not a software issue. Can you get me to
Level Ii so they can handle this for me?

I've found this works with At&T. They know you know the drill and they help instead of hinder your progress, but only if you insist.

There has all the time been a downward pressure on customer-
driven escalation. Csr's are discouraged from allowing calls
to escalate because it gobbles up internal resources,
the time of more knowledgeable, supervisory or
team leadership talent, if you can call it that.

But don't let that stop you from getting what you need.

If you seem like the sort of buyer that will escalate right to the very top, you'll ordinarily get the concession you need far lower than that in the organization.

Remember, don't hesitate; escalate!

increase Sales With Strategic Alliances Or Partnerships

Formal joint ventures or what is now called strategic alliances are coarse for larger businesses where one enterprise cannot cope a exact project, does not have expertise in a singular field or needs help with a new product. Any way by uniting troops with one or even two other organizations, these innovative firms can divide and successfully conquer the project. The results are increased sales and supplementary loyal customers.

Some examples of prosperous strategic partnerships or alliances include Cisco/Ibm; Cisco/SalesForce.com; SalesForce.com/Dell; and not let us forget Att/Apple Phone. In the book, Strategic Alliances: Three Ways to Make Them Work by Steve Steinhilber, he shared that Cisco straight through its strategic alliances increased allembracing wage by .5 billion. Yes, you read right billion not million dollars.

Att Call Conference

With so many small businesses to singular office home office (Soho) firms being established, this proven strategy of uniting with other enterprise just makes coarse sense. However, because of the fear that working with a perceived competitor might be damaging, those folks who could dramatically advantage the most quite often ignore the idea of such a strategic partnership.

What I know to be true is this is a proven way to increase sales, strengthen shop presence and truly be recognized as an innovator. While the last 10 years, I have established numerous strategic alliances and most of them have been beneficial.

My first strategic alliance was with Laura Novakowski who I meet at a conference where I delivered a keynote to over 150 administrative coaches and consultants. After my presentation, she purposely came up to me to introduce herself. She was a nurse with a Mba located in southeast Pa and I was a sales professional, communal educator with a Masters in Instructional Design. Any way from that preliminary connection, we shared conversations, wrote an e-book together, co-authored a monthly Ezine (Power Choices) and helped each other with marketing to actual facilitation challenges. We have made joint sales calls since that first encounter. Laura continues to be a strong strategic partner and a great friend.

More recently I have united with other proactive enterprise expert Theresa Valade. We have known each other for several years. While one of our regular catch up meetings, we realized that we both shared some similar target markets and both had dissimilar contacts. After several brainstorming meetings, we conceived a exact joint marketing plan and already have a integrate of organizations interested.

In reviewing why my these alliances have worked, I realized three key elements were gift in each and everyone. First, there must be shared positive core values. If you and the other small enterprise owner have dissimilar core values, then this is a deal breaker. One of those key values is commitment to the relationship.

Second, each person must be willing to do 50% of the work at all stages. When a strategic partnership is one way, this will not work. For example over the years, other consultants who wished to work together have approached me. They wanted me to do 100% of the marketing and selling and they would do the facilitating. The profits would be split 50/50 and this demonstrates person who is one way.

Third, results must be measured. Unless you set benchmarks and monitor your progress, this strategy will not render the results that are possible.

Strategic alliances can and do work in case, granted you get out of your own way and find others who share the same values as you. Just think of it, instead of you just pounding the pavement, attending all those enterprise to enterprise (B2B) events, now you have other person working with you. Lowest line is you can reach more people in less time and speedily increase sales.

business Ethics - An Oxymoron?

We often read and hear references to enterprise ethics. Undergraduate and post graduate courses dedicate large amounts of time and resources to the topic. However, if one were to ask the midpoint consumer if he believed that most businesses were conducted in an ethical manner, we would predominately receive negative responses. Simply stated, ethics can be defined as doing the right thing, the moral thing, and treating others with honor and respect. Linked to business, this idea would consist of several items, and when we value how most businesses conducted business, we would often avoid referring to these practices as moral.

1. One of the necessities of being ethical is telling the truth. However, when we look at how businesses, services and products are often promoted, the truth is stretched rather thin. One example, of procedure is the movable communications or cell phone industry. Each carrier runs ads trying to convince us how excellent they are. However, since there are no legal requirements even for using terminology such as "4G," and each carrier handles their lines differently, there is often quite a bit of variation. For example, going strictly by its ads, one would believe that Verizon cellular aid is nearly perfect. Its advertisements makes claims about the clarity of its calls, how few calls are dropped, its speed, etc. While that is the case in some areas, several of my friends on Verizon aid sense dropped calls, etc., in assorted areas, while having excellent aid in others. Att Mobility claims its law is fastest, and in some areas it is. I use the law and have had splendid experience, yet, I know others who have been extremely disappointed. Sprint customers have similar experiences, and I have had splendid sense with Sprint's Air Card, which works well nearly everywhere I've used it. However, as good as it is, it is indubitably not as quick as wired or Wi-Fi service. Every other aid has its proponents, as well as its attackers. The issue is not which aid is the best, but rather how the services promote themselves. While sufficient advertising is self promotional by definition, misleading ads are indubitably not terribly ethical.

Att Call Conference

2. Have you ever gone into a store and purchased something, and the store swiftly asks you if you'd like to purchase an Extended Warranty. While there is nothing wrong with contribution this, nor with the shop development further revenues doing so, have you ever been given a clear cut explanation of what is and is not covered, and the limitations. Remember, we are discussing ethics here!

3. Investment Advisers are someone else area of ethical concern. Is the individual an unbiased adviser, or is he Simply a salesman disguising himself as an adviser? Both duties and functions are acceptable, but which is ethical?

4. In Real Estate, does the midpoint buyer truly understand the contrast in the middle of being represented by a Buyers Agent, a Brokers Agent, and a Sellers Agent? In New York State, for example, by law, prospective buyers must be given an group business transaction that explains each of these. Yet, if the midpoint buyer truly understood the differences, one would think the vast majority would prefer using a Buyers Agent, whose loyalty is directly to the buyer. Is this an ethical dilemma?

There are so many situations in enterprise where there is the opening for a business, product, or representative to opt to whether prioritize ethical behavior, or to merely do what might be gismo and in the store (or business, product, or reps) best interest, rather than the buyer (or buyer). Therefore, one must wonder if enterprise ethics is someone else one of those oxymorons, such as forces intelligence, moral politician, etc.

Taking Back The Playground - coming To Terms With The Bully In You

Alright, here's what nobody wants to admit- there's a minute bully in all of us. And while you might not be called Darth Vader behind your back (yet), we all, to some degree, whether we realize it or not, have participated in bully-esque behaviors.

Being able to recognize these behaviors at an early stage can help you fortify all of your relationships and, as an added bonus, it may keep you employed.

Att Call Conference

To help recognize the bully in you, here is a list of tasteless bullying behaviors. We ask you to take an honest look at yourself. If you find that you have any of these red-flag behaviors, realize that these behaviors will never earn you the "Ms/ Mr. Congeniality" sash.

1. Aggressive Behavior

This in-your-face bully operates from a place of intimidation. Their motto is "I'm okay, you're not okay and it's your fault!" They enjoy heated arguments filled with put-downs. They talk at a volume that can be heard in the next county over and they make comments that are destructive and combative. They in no way make it safe for you to have a conversation with them. They cut you off mid-sentence to put their ten cents in, and if they do let you finish, they find ways to use what you have said against you.

2. Passive-Aggressive Behavior

Passive-Aggressive individuals have perfected the act of sabotage. This bully behaves stealthy in a way that says I'm okay, you're not okay, but I'm not going to tell you that to your face. Instead, they do things behind your back that let you know you're not okay. They say one thing and do another, producing a chaotic environment. They don't hold themselves to the same set of standards they wish of you.

Passive-Aggressive behavior can range from all the time being late to meetings, manufacture and then breaking promises, saying, "I was just joking," after sending out a barbed missile-like message intended to stop others dead in their tracks. This is the type of bully who avoids taking any leadership position, letting others take the lead instead, only to sit back and criticize them on all of their decisions. Passive-Aggressive types can also act ridiculously literal. For example, if you ask these bullies to go and pick up a paper, they go pick it up and then stand there seeing at you for their next command. Yet another popular tactic is to ignore you when you ask a question, causing you to feel pain when you ask it again. In the hallway, they say hello to every person else but you. After all, why should they waste their breath?

Another form of Passive-Aggressive behavior is manufacture threats. These can be direct threats such as, "I can't wait to see what Hr thinks about this," or indirect threats such as, "We'll just have to see what happens." whether way the point of a threat is to cause you discomfort, make you request yourself and develop themselves in the one-up position.

3. Blame Game

This bully makes mistakes and you guessed it - it's never their fault! Individuals who have perfected this behavior shirk accountability for any wrongdoing and find a way to direct the blame onto others. Forget about them sharing what they can do, what they are willing to do and what they have done. Rather, they are quick to share what isn't their job, what they can't do, and what they haven't done, which is, of course, no fault of their own. The blame bully makes you believe it is positively your fault for something that did not go their way. They excel at manufacture others personally responsible for their shortcomings.

4. The One-Upper

Never wanting you to think you are better, stronger or smarter, this bully never lets you get the advantage. For this power-monger all is a life-or-death competition. If you've done it, then they have done it bigger and better. No matter how awful your story is, their story is worse. If you're stressed out, they're about to blow a gasket. They know more, they knew it earlier than you and they remind you about this often. This bully seeks to assert or boost their self-esteem and self-confidence by deflating yours.

5. Mr. Know-It-All

Next of kin to the One-Upper is Mr. Or Ms. Know- It-All. This bully knows all about anything. When asked even the simplest of questions the Know-It-All delivers a Shakespearian soliloquy that makes you want to cover your ears say repeatedly, "I can't hear you. I can't hear you!" This wastes hours (or what seems like hours) of your high-priced time. Like a jackhammer they pound away with irrelevant details you don't want to hear and that you positively won't remember. Mr. Know-it-All also relishes in letting you know when you are wrong. They take great pride in letting you (and every person else in a 10-mile radius) know that you are, in fact, w-r-o-n-g and therefore well below their Know-It-All status.

6. Gossiper

By gossiping just 10 minutes a day, this bully loses forty-two hours of productivity a year. But why stop there, as most gossipers deliver much more gossip than this. This bully creates verbal viruses that spread like the flu. They infect every person around them by sharing needless tidbits designed to make them look like they are "in the know." This type of bully is notorious for baiting habitancy by using questions such as, "So what have you heard about the new hire," and "So what do you think of what the boss said in the meeting this afternoon." Like a fisherman they stand with their line in the water waiting for you to bite, only to use your own words to filet you later.

7. "Negator" - The Stupor-hero of Negativity

Faster than a speeding bullet! More spirit-sucking than a red-eyed ravenous vampire. Able to spoil definite conversations in a single bound. This stupor-hero of negativity's motto is, "I've come to ruin the day!!" Negator's list of negative phrases includes:

· "It's not going to work."

· "Where'd you dig that one up?"

· "You're wrong."

· "That's stupid."

· "Duh"

· "Whatever!"

Forget maintaining the recommended 3-to-1 ratio of positive-to-negative transportation now recommended by experts. Forget boosting anyone's self-confidence or self-esteem. Forget any good feelings that you had before they entered the room. Negator's sole mission is to create downward emotional spirals for every person involved. The drain on energy after even a short visit is palatable. seeing this bully's car in the parking lot is quite sufficient to break even the strongest resolve.

8. ...Ist - Behavior

Racist... Sexist... Elitist... Whatever you call it, this man chooses to demean others in an attempt to elevate him or herself. Quite often, this bully's attitude has minute to do with his or her true thoughts or beliefs. This man just knows that the best way to injure someone, thereby gaining power and control, is to hit them where it hurts. Focusing on personal characteristics such as race, sex, age, religion, national origin or disability is not only abusive, it is positively illegal. The Civil rights Act of 1964 allows for protection under the law in the workplace for these protected categories.

9. Micromanager

Whether it is a bullying technique or plainly bad management, the Micromanager tends to request the skills and abilities of those reporting to them. This man tends to make those around them uncomfortable with their constant hovering and lack of trust. This man takes reputation for the work of others, since they will often swoop in and take over a task in the 11th hour - claiming the glory for a job well done. Most habitancy working for a Micromanager at last conclude they need to go somewhere else where their talents are recognized, or they become apathetic and only do the bare minimum.

10. Electronic Bullying

Too cowardly to confront you face-to-face, this bully hides behind a screen name, sending out flames... Or Molotov cocktails, if they see fit. This bully doesn't just burn a bridge...
